Type strain. Posesses CF antigens in common with R. Typhi and R. prowazekie with antisera prepared in GP, Rab, and Ha; however, tests wtih mouse antisera are not identical. Lack of identity with R. Typei and R. prowazekii confirmed by toxin neutralization tests. Because it is not associated with human disease, this agent can be handled under BSL2 conditions, per CDC BMBL 5th edition, 2007. |
